Message Hello all. I tried to be as succinct as possible; Please help.
Info about me: good mechanical skills. Half newbie in Z's ( had an NA before this TT).
Car: 91 TT t-top 33K original miles. JWT ECU, POP, Exhaust, AVCR (turned off or way down).
Problem: intermittent. Started with previous owner (he took very good care of the car). Car would occasionally run rough (as if running on less than 6) when started from cold. After warming up by driving gently, it would go back to normal.
I bought car and had similar issues when starting cold. It got worse with time, though. Yesterday, even after driving a bit as usual, it was still running rough.
Diagnosis progress:
1. Ran ecu diagnostic- got code 51. Researched it all over TT.net and other forums. I now know it is injector circuit open and/or injector failure.
2. Contacted previous owner who said he suspected cylinder 6’s injector (he had done some diagnostics that excluded coil and plug).
3. I listened to all injectors while engine running with a stethoscope. They all clicked away - although at different tones and speeds. I could not determine which was not functioning well. Do injectors fail partially?
4. I did the balance test for all cylinders. # 6 did not cause the engine to stumble, so I began suspecting # 6 more.
5. I tested the ignition coil voltage and resistance, as per manual- all good.
6. pulled out spark plugs- looked fine, and were replaced recently.
7. pulled off all 6 injector connectors and measured injector resistance (used two multimeters and measured twice with each). The shock: Cylinder1 to 6, respectively were: 13.3/91.1/12.2/43.7/31.1/35.1.
I will measure again tomorrow and triple check.

If the readings are true then I was thinking fo changing all 6 and going with newer style injectors.
I was thinking of : 94+ 370cc injectors/300 degree rail/300 degree fuel fittings/new style connectors (to be spliced in). Or I can get the new style EFI harness and just replace the whole thing.
Any ideas?
